A daunting task

Somebody once said that you cannot become yourself by becoming somebody else. To become somebody else is a daunting task. The quickest route to become yourself is to be yourself. What does this mean? It means that the orientation of your mind turns towards its own source. Oriented in this way a peculiar thing happens. You will gradually start to acquire the taste of being with yourself. And being with yourself, you will return quite naturally to the place that you never left.
It is really a question of giving up the game of projecting oneself towards some other imagined state of perfected being which somebody else has got and you don’t have. The truth is that no matter how much projection you do, you will never become somebody else or acquire their state of being. All that is just in your own imagination. Isn’t it a whole lot easier to just become yourself?
